Daniel Solomon b. 1987 in Cape Town, South Africa, draws
inspiration from a deep connection to history, the human
experience, and the warring confluence of our environment
and man. He is a self-taught artist with an educational
foundation in psychology.
Solomon examines these themes through painting and
electricity. Predominantly working with acrylic and oil paint,
with the addition of circuitry and LEDs.
Solomon’s work is connected to the tradition of landscape
painting; drawing from the same well as the 19th century
romantics, yet is indelibly influenced by our times; making
ample use of digital and industrial tools to create work.
Through his art, Solomon seeks to investigate our place
in time; the jumping-off point between analog and digital
reality. Inviting viewers to contemplate presence, materiality
and agency.
Daniel Solomon lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa.
